I fell in love with words after reading I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings for the first time. It wasn’t written as a book of poetry, but to me, it was poetry. and poetry was my new best friend. I’ve written a lot of poems, most of them about love. One thing I’ve learned is that love ain’t always sweet. Sometimes it’s sour. Sometimes, love is mean. Sometimes, love is messy. But always, love is necessary.
I’ve also written a lot of letters, love letters. Some I sent, some stayed tucked away. Now, they find their way into this collection. In this three-volume release, I revisit, reflect, and refine, not just the words, but the way I show up in love, starting with myself. Every piece in this collection was written in love, with love, and by love. Because i am lovee and this is my story.
